It’s all about moringa oil

Fresh from clearing up one big myth about oil, let’s look closer at one particular essential oil: that of the moringa tree.

Moringa oleifera, originally native to northern regions of India but now much more widespread, is a humble tree with some not-so-humble properties. Take some of its many colloquial names: ‘l’arbre de vie’ (or ‘tree of life’), ‘the miracle tree’, or – in a twist on the English ‘never die’ – ‘nebedaye’. These alone should give you an idea of its amazing properties, in terms of its hardiness to thrive in even the harshest climates, its nutrient-rich, edible leaves – and the healing properties of its oil.

These properties are no recent discovery either. The ancient Egyptians were known to treasure moringa oil, using it as both protection and remedy amid their arid surroundings. The Greeks and Romans alike saw its myriad benefits too – only now we can pinpoint its timeless healing properties down to its high concentrations of vitamins and antioxidants, that carry a wealth of incredible qualities for the skin.

A lot of goodness in those little seeds

Extracted by cold-pressing the seeds of the moringa tree, the oil itself is one of the most beneficial essential oils we know of – which is why it’s a vital active ingredient in everything from hand and body lotions to lip balms and scrubs. As you’d expect from its high antioxidant content, it’s adept at fighting the free radicals that cause signs of ageing. But it also goes far beyond this, being packed with more than 90 nutrients carrying all kinds of advantages for the skin.

It’s a natural balancer, bringing equilibrium to oil secretion while moisturising and enlivening tired or dry skin. It purifies and protects from the impurities we face in our everyday lives. It targets blemishes and irritation, soothing acne, removing blackheads and dark spots, strengthening skin and evening tone for a uniform, radiant glow. And it can do the same to hair and nails too, strengthening, smoothing and softening from within, adding a naturally lustrous shine – that is, when it’s not helping to heal cuts, burns and rashes through its innate anti-inflammatory qualities.

These aren’t the only miracles moringa oil performs – it’s renowned for its dietary benefits too, from delivering vitamin C to rebalancing energy levels, and protecting the skeletal and nervous systems. But in terms of its role in natural skincare, it’s hard to argue for a better ingredient for all types of skin than the ancient miracle tree.

Find out exactly why it is, in fact, all about moringa oil

We can’t, of course, live by moringa oil alone – but, thankfully, one other property of this incredible ingredient is its ability to work perfectly with a host of other beneficial oils and butters. That’s why you’ll find it in many of our own Clockface Beauty treatments – and it’s why you can start feeling the benefits of 100% natural moringa oil for yourself.
