Why is it so important not to put toxins, or synthetic or artificial chemicals, on our skin?

Something that may surprise you is that it’s actually worse to put toxins on your skin than it is to consume them. This is because, within the body, there are systems in place – the digestive system, for example – to help break down elements our body doesn’t want. On the other hand, toxins on your skin can go directly, unfiltered, into your bloodstream. Some toxins, such as the alcohol found in major-label products, even enhance other ingredients’ penetrative abilities. So, it’s absolutely vital to know that you’re not putting anything harmful on your skin – after all, it’s your single largest organ, and up to 60% of what you put on it could be absorbed. That’s one principal reason why all our products are 100% natural, organic and vegan.

What is the shelf life of your products?

All our products are made in small batch quantities in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside, this ensures that the Clockface Beauty treatment that you receive is the most fresh it can be. They all have a shelf life of six months from when you open them. Rather than using chemicals, we use only natural preservatives – ingredients that contain high levels of antioxidants and vitamins. On the label of each of our products, you’ll find an open-jar symbol. This symbol also has a number with it, which tells you exactly how long you can use the product once opened. To ensure your product stays at its best be sure to follow the instructions on the label about how to store correctly, in particular away from sun or heat. Treat our products like fresh food for your body, buying only what you will use within the shelf life to ensure you get the best from your treatment.

I have oily skin. Are your products suitable for me?

It is a complete myth that if you have oily skin you should stay away from oil-based products. In fact, some of the fatty acids in plant oils can actually help rebalance oily skin and prevent it from overproducing sebum – the substance that makes skin ‘oily’. Facial oils, such as our Clockface Beauty Signature Collection Facial Serum, can help do just that.

I have sensitive skin. Will your products be right for me?

Our treatments contain only carefully selected 100% natural ingredients – so they’re kind to all types of skin, particularly sensitive. Containing no synthetic, artificial or harmful chemicals, our products use ingredients that actively and naturally nourish and moisturise the skin, with properties that are excellent for dry, combination, oily, acne or eczema-prone skin.

What about mature skin? Could your products help me?

Our treatments are ideal for all skin types, but we were also founded on a principle of helping those with mature skin. One of our founders, Karen, has in fact made it something of a mission to address the signs and effects of ageing on the skin, using only natural ingredients. So, we take time to choose a selection of targeted essential oils and ingredients that contain natural anti-ageing properties and antioxidants proven to help those with mature skin.

What ages are your products suitable for?

From younger men and women to mature customers, our products are ideal for all ages.
Quite often, we see how both men and women in their early twenties feel a real need to look after their skin more – whether that’s down to specific skin concerns or to pre-emptively fend off the early signs of ageing. Our treatments are here to help you do this while, for more mature skin, we use ingredients that specifically target the natural effects of age and environment on the skin. So, our range really is designed to cover all ages and skin types.

I am pregnant are your products safe to use?

All Clockface Beauty treatments contain less than 1% essential oils, and we do not know of a reason why any of our products would cause an issue during pregnancy. You can always refer to your GP or pharmacist if you require more information.

I have cancer, are your products suitable for me?

We understand that whilst undergoing treatment for cancer that this can also be harsh on your skin and nails. As your skin is the largest organ in your body the treatments can sometimes leave your skin feeling sensitive and dehydrated. As our products are 100% natural and organic they are suitable for you to use, they contain no artificial fragrances, alcohol or chemical preservatives. If you are unsure we recommend carrying out a 24 hour patch test.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes, all our packaging is 100% recyclable or upcyclable. Our treatments are packaged in amber glass, which is widely recycled – all except our lip balm, which is packaged in fully recyclable plastic. The boxes and outer packaging can all be recycled and, wherever possible, we use packaging made from recycled material – such as in the padding that keeps your delivery safe and intact.

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all of our products. If you’re unhappy with your purchase for any reason, simply send it back to us for a full refund or exchange. For more details and specifics, please see our Delivery & Returns page.

What are the INCI names on your labelling?

EC legislation states that all ingredients must be given their Latin INCI name (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients). Now, some companies use this to disguise the ingredients they use. We don’t. We only ever use 100% natural ingredients in our products, and all our treatments are organic, so our labels have two clear lists of ingredients: one listing their common names, and one listing their INCI names.

Does heat and other conditions effect my products?

We recommend for all your treatments to be stored out of direct sunlight and in a cool, dry place. As our products are 100% natural and made without synthetic stabilising chemical, with the balms and scrubs if you accidentally leave too long in the heat, the texture may become looser, in this instance just leave in the fridge and the treatment will return back to its usual consistency.

My Rhassoul Clay and Vetiver Mask has a thin layer on top when I’ve opened it for the first time, is that okay?

The Rhassoul Clay & Vetiver Face Mask may form a thin layer on top due to some of the natural ingredients used in the product being exposed to air. This is completely normal and doesn’t change the efficacy of the product – just remove the thin layer and carry on using the mask as normal.
