5 top tips to get your skin autumn ready

It’s been quite the summer – record temperatures, scorching sunny days and a heatwave that never seemed to end. But, if you ask us, we’ve always had a soft spot for the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Here in Yorkshire, it’s always beautiful to see the leaves change colour and the nights slowly draw in – time to get cosy as nature cools herself down.

Autumn itself, however, poses many challenges for our skin – changing temperatures and moisture levels at the turn of the season can have all kinds of negative effects. So, as we say goodbye to summer and try to remember where we put our jackets, here’s our top 5 tips on getting your skin ready for the autumn. Get yourself a nice cup of something warm and let’s dive in…

  1. Nourish your skin from within
    It’s not just the weather that changes over autumn. As the nights and the cold draw in, our metabolism also slows down – so it’s important to keep up your vitamin and nutrient intake to keep skin looking and feeling fresh, clear and healthy. Omega oils, fatty acids and vitamins should feature in your diet anyway, more so as the season changes, but you can also gain the benefits of these nutrients through your skin. Yes, that does involve plenty of fluids (ours is a tea, no sugar, thanks), but it also means choosing and using the right moisturising treatments for your skin, especially for faces and hands that are exposed to the elements on those brisk autumn walks.
